I had doubts about whether this particular ratchet extension is worth the price difference compared with the regular one. In the end, I think it is: screwing and unscrewing is much faster and less tiring. What's more, the hexagonal socket allows you to use standard commercially available bits, meaning that Leatherman itself eliminates the need to buy the company's bit kit with the flat bits that fit directly into Leatherman tools.

Great upgrade for the Surge! It takes drill bits (with a hexagonal base), commercial screws, and also functions as an extension. It maximizes the use of the Surge. A bit expensive of course, but it's a whole different situation! Note that nowhere is it mentioned that it is a 3-point socket!
