The WiFi Extender from Andowl broadcasts a signal on two frequencies. It offers higher speeds compared to single-band extenders and allows the connection of more devices. The 2.4Ghz frequency is the most widespread and, as it has a long range, it is usually congested by neighboring Wi-Fi signals, further complicating device communication. The 5Ghz frequency provides higher speed than 2.4Ghz but is more sensitive to obstacles (e.g., walls) that reduce its range. This difference, as well as its more limited use, helps it have fewer interferences from other networks. The repeater can offer up to 1200Mbps in total to the devices connected to it. In practice, the actual speed shared among the devices is closer to 200Mbps. For example, a high-definition 4K movie requires about 25Mbps. The speed each connected device will have depends on the distance, obstacles, how many other devices are connected, how many other networks are in the same area, etc. It is of Wi-Fi 5 generation, the most widespread Wi-Fi standard, which can meet the needs of most users for now.     Attention! The title states Dual Band 1200mbps and the packaging as well (only in one spot that is visible in the photos, there is no mention in the instructions, etc). However, the device I received only transmits at 2.4ghz and is wifi 4, not 5 as stated in the specifications.

    I tested it both in Access Point mode (only transmits at 2.4ghz) and in repeater mode (doesn't even find 5ghz networks in the search and the network it creates is only 2.4ghz). I also searched and tried every possible setting in its management interface and found no reference to 5ghz.

    On the positive side, the installation was very quick in both modes. Also, for €12 it's not a bad value for a 2.4ghz repeater/AP with an Ethernet port. Just remember to change the password in its management interface because it doesn't have any password by default.

    I returned it immediately and bought something more reputable.
