The Heraclitean game of the eternal child is a free activity, distinct from the manifestations of the mass mentality, constantly repeated, not having a mimetic but a metaphysical relationship with the cosmic reason.
The child plays the reason and the law of the world. With its non-seriousness, it plays something very serious. However, from another perspective, the child plays with a reverent seriousness, making what it does sacred, within the context of a genuine ritual.
This ambiguous and dualistic childlike attitude is revealed intact in the child’s ambivalent reaction when any internal or external forces regarding the game disrupt the process of play: sometimes the child laughs, and at other times it expresses its anger.
The eternal innocence, within the ritual of its play, unfolds its creative power, imprinting in it the truth of the harmony of opposites, as well as that of creation and decay. This constitutes the depth of poetry and art.
However, even in this game of the eternal child, the logical and metalogical approach to the cosmic order remains, as the ultimate interiority of Being willed, obscure and hidden.
