Permanently connected to my 2013 mbp, with an SSD boot disk and a Toshiba external HDD for backup, it burned the SSD and the external twice. The power supply was checked and it was fine, so the problem lies in the device's circuitry. Several times it dropped the write speed between hard drives - below 23MB/s. Not recommended as the main hub. Only for emergency use. I now have the Aukey as my main hub and it's worth it. It is small in size but also in weight, resulting in it not standing properly and being uneven.
