Imperial Onyx Rum 10 Years 38 Percent 700ml

Barceló Imperial Onyx is a blend of rums aged for 10 years in former bourbon barrels. It is made from fermented sugarcane juice, not molasses. The result is a smoother and more rounded flavor that highlights the true characteristics of the sugarcane.

  • The most VFM rum brand on the market is also launching a series where the aging takes place in "special" barrels (here from onyx!). The result remains a blend from different batches, with a maximum aging time of 10 years, which for me is the right amount of time if you don't want to lose the strength in flavor. How is it? Well, it's very good without its increased price being justified. Because they changed the barrels? I don't believe the onyx worked miracles, but the masters at Ron Barcelo are artists and have delivered an excellent rum, pleasantly sweet that maintains intensity and aromas. Some sites abroad I checked have it 6-7 € above the regular one. If that was the case here, we would be talking differently. I would tell you to stock up on bottles of a rum that is still 20 € below its peers. Now it's just cheaper and yet always interesting. You should get it.

    I don't give it 5 stars because it's a bit pricey, otherwise it's fantastic!
