The Turtle Beach Recon is the first controller from this specific company, designed for Xbox. It is wired (with a nice braided cable of about three meters, which is also detachable and you can use any type-c you want) and works seamlessly with all headphones with a 3.5 mm jack.

Design-wise, it resembles the original Xbox controller and appears to be of good quality construction. Its weight is slightly lighter than the MS controller (essentially equivalent to the weight of the Xbox controller without the batteries).

The "LT, RT" triggers have a textured surface (like the bumpers) and provide a nice feel and feedback. The "LB, RB" buttons are slightly smaller than the original and have a shorter travel distance. The "X, Y, A, B" buttons gave me the feeling that they require a bit more force to press compared to the original, but nothing drastic.

The two remappable buttons on the back can be assigned to any button the user wants, and there is the option for four different presets. They have the same textured surface and "clicky" sound as the triggers and bumpers, and they function instantly.

Turtle Beach has focused on sound, so you will find separate buttons for adjusting the game and chat audio, a superhuman hearing mode where the sound is more intense (footsteps in FPS games, etc.), and four sound presets (signature, bass, volume, bass and treble). I have connected the controller to my SteelSeries 3 headset, and it generally gives a boost to the sound.

The cooling grips on the palms somewhat help prevent sweating, but it would be preferable if they covered the surfaces that the hands hold all around.

Overall, the Turtle Beach Recon controller is quite impressive and recommended for those who want something extra in their game audio, have no issues with wired functionality, and want to try something different from the original Xbox controllers. At 60 euros, I consider it a good choice.
