I also changed the hangers to something more modern that I bought separately.
The assembly is indeed difficult, nothing like IKEA, but not impossible. If you take it step by step and carefully, you'll manage. There is also a table that lists the dimensions of the pieces which you should consult to understand which piece is referred to each time (the pieces have a sticker with their dimensions on them).
