You can never judge an external hard drive by its first few months of use because its key feature (should) be reliability. Speed and build quality matter, but the most important thing is always how well it works over time. This particular drive is built like a tank and has very large external dimensions due to the reinforcements for impact resistance. It is the only drive I have bought (and I have bought very many, from all manufacturers) that just barely fits in the external carrying case. Even the USB port is covered by a built-in plastic cap. Its cable—which is USB-A on both ends—fits into slots in the external casing and is secured for carrying along with the drive. But to fit, it is very short and also adds bulk. I think the first thing one should do is order a longer cable. However, I have only found a cable with USB male connectors on both ends using the USB 3.0 protocol, not 3.2, which is the drive's specification for maximum transfer speed. It operates practically silently. The drive is quite fast and—at first glance, with great reservation—inspires confidence. I'll come back with updates. In any case, DO NOT TRUST HARD DRIVES 100%. Always make backups. I bought 2 together and make copies. I've been burned more than a few times, and I can't afford to anymore. So when we talk about buying an external hard drive, we essentially mean buying 2 units. Also: capacity is approximate. No two drives (from different manufacturers) have the same capacity. So don't expect one to hold exactly what the other does; the differences can be quite a few GB. Don't fill drives to the brim to avoid problems; always leave some GB free.
P.S. The price of the drive has skyrocketed: from €150 (purchase 25/07/2025) to €180 (purchase 01/11/2025) to €190 (02/12/2025) to €200 (15/12/2025), and today (28/03/2026) to €240. That is a 60% increase in 8 months (!!!), and it will keep going. So now that I want another drive, much to my regret, I'll look for another one.
P.S. 2: On 28/09/2026 its price reached €481, meaning a 221% increase in 1 year!!!!!!
