Imposing large chessboard, carved, of high quality. Also, beautiful large pieces, though light. Perhaps some people may not like this.

Very good set, this is my first chessboard but I can say the quality is just fine. Big pieces, they gather and don't take up space

I got this set to replace a chess-backgammon set that I had, with plastic pieces. The chessboard is made of solid wood (not veneer), a bit lightweight, with beautiful carvings for decoration as well as for the numbers and letters. Inside, the green case where the pieces are stored is cheap plastic, low quality, but it does the job. The pieces (and the pieces!) are wooden, weightless (unfortunately!), with felt on their base and equally beautiful carvings as the chessboard. They are not exactly Staunton type, one could say somewhat exotic. Overall, it is not a luxury set nor a cheap one, it is of medium quality. I bought it for 70 €, it is made in Poland.
