The educational series Dr S T E M aims to assist educators and students (aged 8 and up) in engaging with "STE(A)M skills," as required by the 21st-century economy and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and to develop Mind Skills with an emphasis on Computational Thinking.

The suggested educational activities presented in the 2nd book of the series The Smart Home in the Skills Laboratory are implemented through a holistic STE(A)M approach with objectives:

• the understanding of the concept of automation,
• the use of the Arduino computing platform,
• the use of sensors and actuators in the construction of a smart home,
• the development of code,
• the familiarization with study, design, development, and evaluation processes.
