In our time, with the use of computational systems, most mathematical problems are solved approximately by fast and highly accurate methods. We call these "numerical," and the field of mathematics that studies them is called Numerical Analysis, or sometimes Computational Mathematics.
These fields of mathematics have significant overlap but are not identical. The book covers the fundamental material taught in an undergraduate course on Numerical Analysis. It also presents, from the perspective of Computational Mathematics, Optimization Methods and methodologies of Computational Intelligence. Although it is aimed at undergraduate students, it develops topics that are also of interest to graduate students.
In each chapter, the theory is presented algorithmically along with many solved examples. Additionally, there is a laboratory section where the algorithms are implemented in MATLAB (Octave) and Python. The programs have been designed so that readers with limited programming experience can study the algorithms they implement.
The solved and proposed exercises for solution have been selected, including applications in the field of engineering science.
