The book "The Acropolis Through Its Museum" is not just a simple museum guide. By presenting the artworks displayed in the museum, it attempts to reconstruct the history of the sacred rock as part of the cultural and broader historical development of ancient Athens.

The book follows the path of the visitor in the museum, allowing anyone to study and read about the ancient artifacts displayed before them. However, it is written in such a way that through independent study, the reader can approach the topics more deeply and understand the conditions - political, social, economic, ideological, artistic, and technological - that led to the unique works of the Acropolis.

The book contains a wealth of illustrations with photographs as well as many drawings and representations, which enable the understanding of the fragmentarily preserved works in their respective contexts. It also answers many of the questions that arise among readers, as well as all those suspicious lovers of antiquity, such as, for example, what was the size of ancient Athens and what was its population, what the beasts in the large archaic pediments meant, what the Korai statues represented, why the Erechtheion became so complex and what was the role of the Caryatids, why the Temple of Athena Nike was made Ionic, what led Pericles and his advisors to choose this specific building program, how the large projects were financed, why they decided to place an Ionic frieze on the Doric Parthenon, what political messages they sent to Sparta through the sculptural decoration of the Parthenon, etc.
