I tried it on a 3rd party bracket (L bracket) with cold shoe, I also tried it directly on a mirrorless camera and it doesn't fit to snap in. In the end, I opened the edges of the mount on the bracket with pliers and managed to wedge it in. Logically, it is made to fit with other components of the same brand. It is NOT universal.
