Upgrade your driving experience

The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 needs no introduction

It is the 5th generation of the legend that defines the Sport tire category. Designed for drivers who want to feel every turn, have absolute control of the steering wheel, but also demand durability.

It combines Michelin's racing expertise with an eye-catching appearance, offering performance that lasts from the first to the last kilometer.

Driving precision and control

Enjoy the ultimate connection with the road

Dynamic Response technology uses a hybrid belt made of aramid and nylon that ensures steering commands are transmitted with millimeter precision to the road.

The Pilot Sport 5 is designed to provide you with information and confidence in every maneuver.

Dominance on dry and wet

With Dual Sport Tread design technology, you get two tires in one:

  • The inner side has large grooves that channel water away for safety in the rain.
  • The outer side has rigid blocks that "stick" to dry pavement in corners. This way, you maintain control regardless of the weather.

Performance that lasts

The biggest complaint about sport tires is that they wear out quickly.

Michelin changed that with the construction of MaxTouch. This technology evenly distributes the forces of acceleration, braking, and cornering across the contact surface, offering longer lifespan without compromising performance.

When performance meets style

The Pilot Sport 5 is perhaps the most beautiful tire ever made. The Premium Touch technology gives the sidewalls a flawless, matte dark appearance with a velvety feel. Because details matter and your car deserves the best.

Additionally, the Wear2check indicator allows you to easily check the tire wear at any time.

Tested in practice: What drivers say about the Pilot Sport 5

We have gathered for you the key points from reviews by verified owners:

  • Excellent grip: Drivers praise the traction on dry and wet surfaces, feeling complete safety.
  • All-Rounder: It is characterized as the ideal tire for sporty driving as well as daily use, being relatively quiet and comfortable.
  • Quick warm-up: The tire reaches performance almost immediately.

Dimensions 225/45-17 on a VW Golf 4 Gti with about 280 horsepower, tested on winding roads, really surprised me. I always used to wear Bridgestone and I saw differences with these ones. You should know that the tires alone do not make the difference, it's a combination of tires, suspension, geometry, etc. There is no bad tire in this category

Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the tires. I have been using them for 15,000 km now and from the beginning their instability was apparent. Even on dry roads, the car does not stick to the ground. On wet roads, it's not even worth discussing, it goes wherever it wants. No safety... Not a good tire at all, I would not buy it again.

    Disappointment!
From the reviews and articles I read, I thought these were the best tires on the market. Unfortunately, they are not! On dry pavement, they perform well as long as the road is clean; if they gather dust, sand, dirt, etc., they slip. On wet roads, they hold up, but I happened to go uphill on cobblestones, and they never made it up, while I have gone up the same hill with a Chinese tire.

Excellent tire, ideal for high performance. It is indeed a sports tire but made for everyday use. When I changed my previous Michelin Primacy 4 with size 215/50/17 to the Pilot Sport 5 in size 225/45/17, the difference in the city was not noticeable either in driving feel or in consumption, which I heard would increase. However, when I drove the car on winding roads, the difference was significant. You feel the car gripping much better and turning faithfully as if it is glued to the road. I was very satisfied with the previous tires, so I am equally satisfied with the new ones in terms of comfort. I also did not notice any difference in noise on open roads. For the price of €430 that I found them for, including installation, I consider them a top choice!

It is a very hard tire with very stiff sidewalls that transmits all the roughness of the road to the steering wheel and cabin with a sharp reaction when you push it. Very noisy even compared to Pilot Sport 4 that had 40,000 km. The road noise is very annoying. I am eagerly waiting for the time when I need to change to something softer. I believe that if you don't push the car too hard and don't have more than 200 horsepower, you shouldn't go for this. On the other hand, with a diesel engine with 130 horsepower, losing traction on a sudden start, you wouldn't call it high performance.

Judging from the fact that it is the sport series of Michelin, a company with a great history in tires, these specific ones disappoint me quite a bit. Used on a four-wheel drive car with 400 horsepower, the tires fail to achieve the grip you expect from such a tire in any case. They prove to be inferior even to the previous Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 that I had, which had done 38,000 km and even at the end of their life, the car did not slip. Otherwise, they quickly reach the appropriate temperature, but I think it is one of the last priorities for a sport tire. Overall, you feel the car floating a bit, as if you have overinflated the tires, and it does not give you the confidence to push it not excessively, but a little more. Perhaps their performance is dramatically better in countries with better road surfaces than ours!

I saw reviews from abroad because I put them on as soon as they came out and because they were very positive, I decided to try them.
    I put them on a BMW 118i 140hp and I have driven 10,000 kilometers.
I am not satisfied at all with their grip. The car spins and they have no traction at startup. With the factory tires (Bridgestone Turanza T005), the car was like a train! I didn't put the same ones because they have a soft profile and the car drifts, which is the only negative thing about the Turanza. The Pilot tires have harder sides and the drifting is reduced significantly, but overall they don't have good grip, especially on dry surfaces. They are slightly better on wet surfaces, but still worse than the factory ones. Needless to say, I regret putting them on!!!

I bought these specific tires on 08/22 and have driven 3,500km so far.
They are very nice tires because they are XL, they stand out and protect the rim. The fuel economy is the same as the previous ones that the car had, Continental Premium Contact 5. The grip is better compared to the previous ones, however, when you start pushing at higher speeds, the car tends to lose control and skid. Lastly, they could have been a bit softer for more comfort.
They were installed on a Mercedes Benz C200.

  • Dimensions 225/45-17 on a VW Golf 4 Gti with about 280 horsepower, tested on winding roads, really surprised me. I always used to wear Bridgestone and I saw differences with these ones. You should know that the tires alone do not make the difference, it's a combination of tires, suspension, geometry, etc. There is no bad tire in this category

  • Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the tires. I have been using them for 15,000 km now and from the beginning their instability was apparent. Even on dry roads, the car does not stick to the ground. On wet roads, it's not even worth discussing, it goes wherever it wants. No safety... Not a good tire at all, I would not buy it again.

  • Disappointment!

  • Excellent tire, ideal for high performance.
