  • Wonderful satin smooth finish if you sand carefully between layers. I had hoped for a harder finish on my pine butcher block. Easy to apply, but make sure you have good ventilation for at least a few hours .

The same oil comes in two codes, 4916 matte and 6020 "natural matte" as the company calls it. The seller sent me the 6020, while the order page on Skroutz refers to the 4916, but at the time I didn't know the difference and didn't bother. So, the "natural matte" 6020, I applied it with a brush two months ago on solid oak in two coats, but I wasn't satisfied because I wanted it to be more matte, an issue that didn't show up with one coat during testing. On the second coat, it comes out somewhat satin or let's say matte that shines if you look at it at a reflective angle. However, I give it 5 stars because the material is good, it is easy to work with, and by following the recommended wiping, it gives a smooth surface like from a spray gun, it provides a fairly durable surface (more durable than simple linseed oil and shellac), and as for planed hard wood, the coverage matches what is stated on the box. The color on oak comes out the same or about the same, depending on the oak, as the material that IKEA factory-applies to Karlby countertops made from "oak" veneer, i.e., from oak, with the difference that theirs is truly matte (the oil IKEA recommends for maintaining those countertops later is a different material from the factory one).

Very good, very easy to apply, excellent result. The surface becomes matte, retains the texture of the wood, does not stain, but is also impermeable to liquids.
