It is a plant known since ancient Greece and is used by Chinese healers and in Ayurvedic medicine in India. The essential oil of Basil is obtained from the steam distillation of its leaves.

It has a pale yellow color and a fresh, sweet, and slightly spicy aroma. Its most important aromatic compounds include estragole, linalool, camphor, and tannins. Scientific studies have shown that Basil essential oil has strong antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties.

It is ideal for addressing colds, flu, and coughs. It helps relieve mental fatigue, lethargy, stress, and depression. It is also used for muscular relief in massage oils and menstrual pain. It is suitable for diffusing devices, freshens the atmosphere, and repels insects.

Basil is also used for digestive problems, bloating, nausea, and vomiting through tea extraction. Additionally, it is beneficial as an inhalant for blocked nasal passages. In aromatherapy, it eases depression and has a revitalizing effect on the nervous system.
