The essential oil of Basil is derived from the steam distillation of its leaves and has a pale yellow color with a fresh, sweet, and slightly spicy aroma.

The main aromatic compounds are estragole, linalool, camphor, and tannins. The essential oil has strong antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. It is ideal for addressing colds, flu symptoms, and coughs, and promotes relief from mental fatigue, stress, and depression.

It is also used as an antispasmodic in massage oils for muscle pain, cramps, and period pains. It refreshes the atmosphere and repels insects. Basil essential oil is used in various fields of alternative medicine and is often helpful for digestive issues and bloating.
