Set in the 1920s, Alone Against the Tide is a solo horror adventure for the role-playing game Call of Cthulhu.
You take on the role of an investigator traveling to the affluent, picturesque, and remote lakeside town of Esbury, Massachusetts. You decide the course of the story by choosing from the options presented. Your choices not only affect what happens to your investigator, but also the fate of Esbury’s residents and visitors — even the town itself!
You can choose to create your own investigator or use the ready-to-play investigator, Dr. E. Woods, a professor of archaeology from Miskatonic University. There are various reasons to visit Esbury, but nearly all are somehow connected to Esbury's resident, Professor William Harris.
- What connection does Professor Harris's research have with the strange green fog that envelops the town?
- Who are the ominous men in black suits that arrived on the ship with your investigator?
- Why is a Buddhist monk visiting Esbury, a town more accustomed to entertaining the wealthy elite of New England?
Armed with a pencil, some role dice, and a copy of the Call of Cthulhu: Keeper Rulebook or the Call of Cthulhu Starter Set, you are ready to bravely face the fog-covered streets of Esbury. Do you dare to take on the challenge?
