A coincidence unites the lives of two different women. The first lives in the present, while the other lived centuries ago. Myrsini, a philologist, dreams of an academic career. The captain's ships crossed the Mediterranean against pirates and privateers, while in their salons they secretly discussed the Friendly Society. Her life becomes a source of inspiration for Myrsini's dissertation, which ultimately sees her victorious in both life and love.
