Description

Description

The Sonoff Zigbee Bridge PRO (ZBBridge-P), the new product from Sonoff for 2022, is a bridge or gateway between Zigbee protocol smart devices (relays and sensors) and other Sonoff devices that are WiFi-based, connected through Sonoff's eWeLink Cloud. It also allows you to create smart scenes to make Wi-Fi and ZigBee smart devices communicate for access to a smarter home and control them all using the eWeLink app. It maximizes performance for up to 128 connected sub-devices that are Zigbee-based switches, plugs, and security sensors.

The Pro version can continue to operate local automations between Zigbee devices even if its Internet connection is lost, whereas the Scenes of the previous Zigbee Bridge version required an Internet connection to execute scene-based automations. (Note: automations between WiFi and Zigbee devices still require an Internet connection.)

Zigbee Connectivity

Wireless data transmission protocol used for two-way communication between devices. Two-way communication means that each device can receive and send a signal. The system was created in 2002 by the ZigBee Alliance, which continues to be involved in its development and promotion. The main feature of the new communication standard is low power consumption and simple construction at low cost. This has been achieved and is now a fact. It has a range of approximately 15 meters.

The Zigbee Bridge gateway supports the Zigbee 3.0 protocol and uses the same eWeLink application and eWeLink cloud as other Sonoff and SmartWise devices based on WiFi and RF, making it a practical device for connecting Zigbee sensors with other smart WiFi relays and switches in a smart home or smart office system.

Compatibility

The bridge firmware v1.1.0 is only compatible with Sonoff Zigbee smart sensors, relays, and plugs, and with Gledopto Zigbee relays; most SmartWise Zigbee devices are not yet compatible.

It supports mesh network topology, and the Zigbee range can be extended by adding other Zigbee 3.0 devices (230V AC).

One-touch pairing for all sub-devices, faster than Wi-Fi pairing. Supports adding a camera to the Bridge or to secondary devices, convenient for viewing your home on any of them. It can also command Alexa or Google Home for voice control of your home.

At a glance

  • Remotely control Zigbee devices as well as Wi-Fi devices in the eWeLink app.
  • Quick pairing with one tap of all sub-devices to be connected.
  • ZigBee signal transmission over long distances covers almost your entire home, up to 80 meters range (in open space).
  • Compatible with a wide variety of smart plugs, switches, wireless switch, and SONOFF ZigBee sensors for more smart scenes.
  • Supports up to 128 Zigbee devices.
  • Control connected devices hands-free via Alexa or Google Home.
  • Support device sharing with your family to control together.
  • Group devices and access to control them via the APP homepage instead of sub-devices.
  • View your home on any of these by adding a camera to the Bridge or sub-device.
  • Supports sending push notifications to the phone from a Zigbee motion sensor and the Sonoff Zigbee Door Window sensor.
  • Powered by a standard MicroUSB 5V (1A) adapter (not included).
  • Scenes between local Zigbee devices continue to run in offline mode.

I have two "P" type bridges with about 20 devices (door sensors and thermometers). To ensure connectivity with more than 10-12 devices, you need to buy a zigbee router, meaning a sonoff device that retransmits the signal and increases the capacity of the bridge; otherwise, at 10-12 (I don't remember exactly), it gets stuck and doesn't accept more. I bought the second bridge for this reason because the first one wouldn't accept any more devices. I could perhaps get by buying a Mini to do the job of the router, but I didn't take the risk and got another bridge. Unfortunately, both still show many disconnections even one meter away from the regular wifi router, and it's frustrating. In my opinion, wifi devices don't have as many connectivity stability issues as zigbee. On the other hand, having around 20 devices on zigbee doesn't burden the wifi. Overall, I would rate the device as average to good.

Although I have been a fan of Sonoff for years with several switches, I have been completely disappointed by the Zggbee series.
Constant disconnections of the temperature sensor and the door contact (even though they are within 5 meters of the Sonoff Hub Pro and I have reconnected them three times in the four days that I have had it).
Try another brand for Zigbee protocols.

Stable value, I have 4-5. It is the first and basic tool for a zigbee network, reliable, you put it in a corner and forget about it, it just works.

Both good and cheap. It does its job.

At least the one I bought, which I have connected to an automatic watering system.

I got it for firmware upgrades of Sonoff Zigbee thermometers and others that can't be done through Home Assistant - I reset them, connect them to the Sonoff ZB Bridge, upgrade their firmware, and then reset again and reconnect to Home Assistant without any problem

While it worked for about two months, it suddenly lost all the devices and can't find them again. Probably defective in the ZIGBEE part. A return request was made and I am waiting. I don't trust it, I have the automatic watering system on it and it has let me down 3 times, for no reason (it is also on a UPS) it was losing the devices and you have to re-add them as well as reconfigure the automation scenarios. I will get the Sonoff Bridge Ultra which seems more high quality (it also has LAN). There are also other ZIGBEE hubs (along with their repeaters) coexisting in the house without any issue: AQARA, XIAOMI, IKEA, HUE.

It has been working perfectly since it was installed a year ago. It only disconnected once, and that could be due to the internet issue we had at home. When you want to connect switches that don't have a neutral, it's the best option.
