It was purchased in 2019 for use on a desktop. I know that NAS is not meant for desktop use, but it is certainly more durable, so I put it on a desktop that was used very little in these 4 years, a total of 120 days of use, and suddenly, without showing any signs of failure, with 100% health in the program and all checks ok, it gave up the ghost. It's a shame because I've been using WD for so many years, but I think it's starting to break down and I'll probably go for Seagate, as they say it's starting to improve, I'm looking at an Ironwolf.
Αγοράστηκε το 2019 για χρήση σε Desktop ξέρω πως η NAS δεν είναι για Desktop αλλά είναι σίγουρα ποιο ανθεκτική οπότε τον έβαλα σε desktop που δούλεψε πολύ λίγο σε αυτα τα 4 χρόνια συνολικά 120 ημέρες χρήσης και ξαφνικά χωρίς να δείχνει κάποια σημάσια αποτυχίας με 100 υγεία στο πρόγραμμα και όλα check ok παρέδωσε πνεύμα :) Κρίμα γιατί τόσα χρόνια έπερνα WD νομίζω πως αρχίζει να χαλάει και αυτή θα προτιμήσω μάλλον Segeate μιας και λένε πως αρχίσε να βελτιώνεται βλέπω για κανένα ironwolf.
Good disk, I got it for a back up disk, it was working about 1-2 times a month, but it failed after 11 months... unfortunately. It was replaced under warranty with the same one... fingers crossed.

I have had the hard drive in my possession for a few days now, and the impressions are very positive. This is my first time getting a Red drive, which was purchased to replace the Black drive that was in my iMac 27. Apple has a tendency to make their computers mini ovens, resulting in the 7200 drives reaching very high temperatures.
After the Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB (which reached 65 degrees and crashed) and the WD Black 4TB WD4004FZWX, I ended up with this one. The previous drives, aside from the temperature, had a tendency to turn my Mac into a compressor on my desk since they were in direct contact with the chassis.
On the other hand, the Red drive is quiet, cool, and has very good speeds.
*Before the internal installation, the hard drive was put in a case to be cloned, and the speeds via USB 3 were more than decent.
Temperature in a case without a fan, full load 35 degrees, inside the iMac full load 38 (room temperature 22).
So far, only positive things to say, highly recommended.

Έχω τον σκληρό στην κατοχή μου για λίγες μέρες αλλά οι εντυπώσεις είναι πολύ θετικές .Είναι η 1η μου φορά που παίρνω Red , αγοράστηκε για να αντικαταστήσει τον Black που βρισκόταν μέσα σε iMac 27 . Η apple έχει την τάση να κάνει τους υπολογιστές της μινι φουρνάκια με αποτέλεσμα οι 7200 να ανεβάζουν πολύ υψηλές θερμοκρασίες.
Μετά από Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB (ο οποίος ανέβασε 65βαθμους και κλάταρε) και Wd black 4TB WD4004FZWX κατέληξα στον συγκεκριμένο. Οι προηγούμενοι δίσκοι εκτός από την θερμοκρασία είχαν την τάση να μετατρέπουν τον mac σε κομπρεσέρ πάνω στο γραφείο μιας και είναι σε άμεση επαφή με το σασί .
Ο Red αντιθέτως είναι αθόρυβος , δροσερός με πολύ καλές ταχύτητες.
*Πριν την εσωτερική τοποθέτηση , ο σκληρός μπήκε σε case για να γίνει clone και οι ταχύτητες μέσω usb 3 ήταν κάτι παραπάνω από αξιοπρεπείς .
Θερμοκρασία σε case χωρίς fan , full load 35 βαθμοί , μέσα στο imac full load 38 (θερμοκρασία δωματίου 22)
Μέχρι στιγμής μόνο θετικά , προτείνετε με τα χίλια .
Θα επανέρθω με update .

I had purchased a pair in April 2016 but a few days ago (August 2016), one of them failed after displaying an error and ultimately not synchronizing in the NAS's RAID1. I sent it back to WD under warranty and am waiting to hear back from them. I hope they will send me a replacement disk.
Update1: The disk was replaced by WD without issue and there is no longer a problem. The replacement process through the warranty was quick and effective.
Update2: September 2019 and they are still functioning in the NAS without any problems.
Είχα αγοράσει ένα ζευγάρι τον Απρίλιο του 2016 αλλά πριν λίγες μέρες (Αύγουστος 2016) ο ένας παρέδωσε πνεύμα αφού έβγαλε σφάλμα και τελικά δε συγχρονιζόταν στο RAID1 του NAS. Το έστειλα στα πλαίσια της εγγύησης πίσω στην WD περιμένοντας να δω τι θα πούνε κι αυτοί. Ελπίζω να μου στείλουν πίσω δίσκο αντικατάστασης.
Update1: Ο δίσκος αντικαταστάθηκε κανονικά από την WD και πλέον δεν υπάρχει πρόβλημα. Η διαδικασία αντικατάστασης μέσω της εγγύησης έγινε γρήγορα και αποτελεσματικά.
Update2: Σεπτέμβριος του 2019 και λειτουργούν ακόμα στο NAS χωρίς προβλήματα.
The first disk they sent me had a problem, so they replaced it.
2. The new disk works great so far, with low temperatures (30-31 degrees idle and 38-40 full) and good speeds (125-135mb/s).
3. I bought it purely for backup and only use it in a case when I need it, so maybe the red was a bit of an overkill for me, but for NAS and servers, the disk is perfect as it is designed for that.
4. I will monitor how the disk performs in the coming months and will update my evaluation in case something happens.
5. 4 stars because the first disk had an issue, and depending on how satisfied I am with the disk in the future, I will increase or decrease the rating.
6. 8/11/18 update: I haven't had any problems with the disk so far, although I use it very little (it's only for backup), so I give it 5 stars and will update if anything happens!

Ο καινουριος δισκος λειτουργει μια χαρα ως τωρα, με χαμηλες θερμοκρασιες (30-31 βαθμους idle και 38-40 full) και καλες ταχυτητες (125-135mb/s).
Τον αγορασα καθαρα για backup και τον λειτουργω σε θηκη μονο οταν τον χρειαζομαι οποτε ισως να ηταν λιγο υπερβολη ο red για μενα αλλα για NAS και servers ο δισκος ειναι οτι πρεπει μιας και γι αυτο ειναι φτιαγμενος.
Θα παρακολουθησω πως θα τα παει ο δισκος τους επομενους μηνες και θα ανανεωσω την αξιολογηση σε περιπτωση που συμβει κατι.
4 αστερια επειδη ο πρωτος δισκος ειχε θεμα και αναλογος με το ποσο ευχαριστημενος ειμαι στο μελλον με τον δισκο θα αυξησω ή θα μειωσω την βαθμολογια.
8/11/18 update: Δεν αντιμετώπισα κανενά πρόβλημα με τον δίσκο ως τώρα αν και τον λειτουργώ πολύ λίγο (είναι μόνο για backup) οπότε του δίνω 5 αστέρια και οτιδήποτε συμβεί θα ενημερώσω!

The disk has been in the home NAS for about a year now - it hosts family data (photos, videos, etc.), work files, and backups of laptops, tablets, and phones. It is particularly quiet and does not produce much heat (30-31C, which is 5-6 degrees lower than the older Hitachi in the same case). I can't say anything about speed because the NAS is low-end anyway. The goal is for it not to create problems over time.
When I bought it, it was the best in terms of features and price. In the future, I plan to replace the old Hitachi with another 6TB WD Red.

Τότε που τον αγόρασα ήταν ο καλύτερος σε σχέση με τα χαρακτηριστικά και την τιμή του. Στο μέλλον σκοπεύω να αντικαταστήσω τον παλιό Hitatch με έναν άλλο WD Red αλλά στα 6TB.

It was purchased in 2019 for use on a desktop. I know that NAS is not meant for desktop use, but it is certainly more durable, so I put it on a desktop that was used very little in these 4 years, a total of 120 days of use, and suddenly, without showing any signs of failure, with 100% health in the program and all checks ok, it gave up the ghost. It's a shame because I've been using WD for so many years, but I think it's starting to break down and I'll probably go for Seagate, as they say it's starting to improve, I'm looking at an Ironwolf.
Αγοράστηκε το 2019 για χρήση σε Desktop ξέρω πως η NAS δεν είναι για Desktop αλλά είναι σίγουρα ποιο ανθεκτική οπότε τον έβαλα σε desktop που δούλεψε πολύ λίγο σε αυτα τα 4 χρόνια συνολικά 120 ημέρες χρήσης και ξαφνικά χωρίς να δείχνει κάποια σημάσια αποτυχίας με 100 υγεία στο πρόγραμμα και όλα check ok παρέδωσε πνεύμα :) Κρίμα γιατί τόσα χρόνια έπερνα WD νομίζω πως αρχίζει να χαλάει και αυτή θα προτιμήσω μάλλον Segeate μιας και λένε πως αρχίσε να βελτιώνεται βλέπω για κανένα ironwolf.
Good disk, I got it for a back up disk, it was working about 1-2 times a month, but it failed after 11 months... unfortunately. It was replaced under warranty with the same one... fingers crossed.

I have had 2 disks connected to my Synology DiskStation DS218J for over 3 months and they have endured over 20 blackouts without any issues. I will immediately install a UPS as a precaution. I am completely satisfied with their durability and performance.

The best choice if you have the money, incredible reliability. It does make a little noise at full load, but nothing annoying.

Three were purchased to be used in raid5. No problems appeared, but they only functioned for a month. Speed and noise are as expected for an HDD. They are worth the cost/MB.

I have been using the same three (in number) NAS arrays with ZFS file system for 6 years now, and they have been running continuously for 24/7 for the past 6 years without any issues.

I have put it on a Synology NAS and its speed is impeccable. It doesn't make any noise and I haven't seen the temperature rise.
I still have to see its reliability over time, but no Western Digital drive has disappointed me.

I have had the hard drive in my possession for a few days now, and the impressions are very positive. This is my first time getting a Red drive, which was purchased to replace the Black drive that was in my iMac 27. Apple has a tendency to make their computers mini ovens, resulting in the 7200 drives reaching very high temperatures.
After the Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB (which reached 65 degrees and crashed) and the WD Black 4TB WD4004FZWX, I ended up with this one. The previous drives, aside from the temperature, had a tendency to turn my Mac into a compressor on my desk since they were in direct contact with the chassis.
On the other hand, the Red drive is quiet, cool, and has very good speeds.
*Before the internal installation, the hard drive was put in a case to be cloned, and the speeds via USB 3 were more than decent.
Temperature in a case without a fan, full load 35 degrees, inside the iMac full load 38 (room temperature 22).
So far, only positive things to say, highly recommended.

Έχω τον σκληρό στην κατοχή μου για λίγες μέρες αλλά οι εντυπώσεις είναι πολύ θετικές .Είναι η 1η μου φορά που παίρνω Red , αγοράστηκε για να αντικαταστήσει τον Black που βρισκόταν μέσα σε iMac 27 . Η apple έχει την τάση να κάνει τους υπολογιστές της μινι φουρνάκια με αποτέλεσμα οι 7200 να ανεβάζουν πολύ υψηλές θερμοκρασίες.
Μετά από Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB (ο οποίος ανέβασε 65βαθμους και κλάταρε) και Wd black 4TB WD4004FZWX κατέληξα στον συγκεκριμένο. Οι προηγούμενοι δίσκοι εκτός από την θερμοκρασία είχαν την τάση να μετατρέπουν τον mac σε κομπρεσέρ πάνω στο γραφείο μιας και είναι σε άμεση επαφή με το σασί .
Ο Red αντιθέτως είναι αθόρυβος , δροσερός με πολύ καλές ταχύτητες.
*Πριν την εσωτερική τοποθέτηση , ο σκληρός μπήκε σε case για να γίνει clone και οι ταχύτητες μέσω usb 3 ήταν κάτι παραπάνω από αξιοπρεπείς .
Θερμοκρασία σε case χωρίς fan , full load 35 βαθμοί , μέσα στο imac full load 38 (θερμοκρασία δωματίου 22)
Μέχρι στιγμής μόνο θετικά , προτείνετε με τα χίλια .
Θα επανέρθω με update .

They have even survived many power outages (pre-UPS) without issue!

I had purchased a pair in April 2016 but a few days ago (August 2016), one of them failed after displaying an error and ultimately not synchronizing in the NAS's RAID1. I sent it back to WD under warranty and am waiting to hear back from them. I hope they will send me a replacement disk.
Update1: The disk was replaced by WD without issue and there is no longer a problem. The replacement process through the warranty was quick and effective.
Update2: September 2019 and they are still functioning in the NAS without any problems.
Είχα αγοράσει ένα ζευγάρι τον Απρίλιο του 2016 αλλά πριν λίγες μέρες (Αύγουστος 2016) ο ένας παρέδωσε πνεύμα αφού έβγαλε σφάλμα και τελικά δε συγχρονιζόταν στο RAID1 του NAS. Το έστειλα στα πλαίσια της εγγύησης πίσω στην WD περιμένοντας να δω τι θα πούνε κι αυτοί. Ελπίζω να μου στείλουν πίσω δίσκο αντικατάστασης.
Update1: Ο δίσκος αντικαταστάθηκε κανονικά από την WD και πλέον δεν υπάρχει πρόβλημα. Η διαδικασία αντικατάστασης μέσω της εγγύησης έγινε γρήγορα και αποτελεσματικά.
Update2: Σεπτέμβριος του 2019 και λειτουργούν ακόμα στο NAS χωρίς προβλήματα.
The first disk they sent me had a problem, so they replaced it.
2. The new disk works great so far, with low temperatures (30-31 degrees idle and 38-40 full) and good speeds (125-135mb/s).
3. I bought it purely for backup and only use it in a case when I need it, so maybe the red was a bit of an overkill for me, but for NAS and servers, the disk is perfect as it is designed for that.
4. I will monitor how the disk performs in the coming months and will update my evaluation in case something happens.
5. 4 stars because the first disk had an issue, and depending on how satisfied I am with the disk in the future, I will increase or decrease the rating.
6. 8/11/18 update: I haven't had any problems with the disk so far, although I use it very little (it's only for backup), so I give it 5 stars and will update if anything happens!
Ο πρωτος δισκος που μου στειλαν ειχε προβλημα οποτε μου τον αλλαξαν.
Ο καινουριος δισκος λειτουργει μια χαρα ως τωρα, με χαμηλες θερμοκρασιες (30-31 βαθμους idle και 38-40 full) και καλες ταχυτητες (125-135mb/s).
Τον αγορασα καθαρα για backup και τον λειτουργω σε θηκη μονο οταν τον χρειαζομαι οποτε ισως να ηταν λιγο υπερβολη ο red για μενα αλλα για NAS και servers ο δισκος ειναι οτι πρεπει μιας και γι αυτο ειναι φτιαγμενος.
Θα παρακολουθησω πως θα τα παει ο δισκος τους επομενους μηνες και θα ανανεωσω την αξιολογηση σε περιπτωση που συμβει κατι.
4 αστερια επειδη ο πρωτος δισκος ειχε θεμα και αναλογος με το ποσο ευχαριστημενος ειμαι στο μελλον με τον δισκο θα αυξησω ή θα μειωσω την βαθμολογια.
8/11/18 update: Δεν αντιμετώπισα κανενά πρόβλημα με τον δίσκο ως τώρα αν και τον λειτουργώ πολύ λίγο (είναι μόνο για backup) οπότε του δίνω 5 αστέρια και οτιδήποτε συμβεί θα ενημερώσω!
I have two of them on a NAS and they have been playing without downtime 24/7 for about 4 months now. The NAS runs monthly diagnostics. Neither of them has caused any problems. It's still early to judge, of course. Their speed is satisfactory, as promised. The 4-year warranty gives you peace of mind for a long time after purchasing them. The disk has been in the home NAS for about a year now - it hosts family data (photos, videos, etc.), work files, and backups of laptops, tablets, and phones. It is particularly quiet and does not produce much heat (30-31C, which is 5-6 degrees lower than the older Hitachi in the same case). I can't say anything about speed because the NAS is low-end anyway. The goal is for it not to create problems over time.
When I bought it, it was the best in terms of features and price. In the future, I plan to replace the old Hitachi with another 6TB WD Red.

Είναι ιδιαίτερα αθόρυβος και δεν παράγει πολλή θερμότητα (30-31C που είναι 5-6 βαθμοί πιο κάτω απο το παλαιότερο Hitachi στο ίδιο κουτί). Απο ταχύτητα δεν μπορώ να πω κάτι γιατί το NAS είναι low-end ούτως ή άλλως. Το ζητούμενο είναι να μην δημιουργήσει προβλήματα με την πάροδο του χρόνου.
Τότε που τον αγόρασα ήταν ο καλύτερος σε σχέση με τα χαρακτηριστικά και την τιμή του. Στο μέλλον σκοπεύω να αντικαταστήσω τον παλιό Hitatch με έναν άλλο WD Red αλλά στα 6TB.
