Power Port 2.0: The latest version of Polk's Power Port technology includes a design that smooths airflow and adds closed tube absorbers to enhance sound.

Exceptional Construction: The sleek construction of the Reserve series isolates and minimizes unwanted internal resistances. The rounded corners diffuse sound throughout the room with minimal deviation, creating an open sound space.

This review is about the colour: Black

Having installed the Polk R700 in my system with a NAD C399 amplifier, I was impressed by their neutral and balanced tone. Vocals and instruments are rendered with exceptional clarity and detail, while their bass is deep, fast, and fully controlled. With two 8″ woofers, a Turbine Cone mid-range, Pinnacle Ring Radiator tweeter, and a truly "concrete" cabinet, the build quality shows that it uses very serious materials and not just good looks.

The speaker's behavior remains stable and controlled, supporting dynamic music and cinema with incredible ease, while even at volumes above 95-97 dB, its clarity and detail remain impressive. Although these are typical 2.0 stereo speakers, the depth separation and stereo image create a real sense of a three-dimensional stage with depth and air.

However, attention is needed: their sensitivity is only 88 dB and the impedance drops to 3.6Ω, so they require a quality amplifier with 150W+ to perform as they should and to be driven safely. The speakers need power to show what they can do.

I'm still adjusting the speakers (when I remember I lower the volume) but I can say that they have impressed me. The amplifier that drives them is not even close to their level, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying them. Very clear sound and impressive bass. Specifically, watching (again) Blade Runner was an experience even without using the sub. At the first opportunity, a two-channel amplifier will be purchased exclusively for them.
