Its interest is historical, philological, and mainly concerns the semantic changes of the tragic and its artistic expressions over time, placing and studying them within a framework of concepts that defined them, such as mimesis and the concepts that depend on it.

Thus, while the study narrates the history of the concept of the tragic, it simultaneously records the journey from the imitation of the appropriate, while also demonstrating those "cracks" in the concept of mimesis that allowed for the birth of the genius subject, legitimized imagination, and ultimately led tragedy, by the end of the 17th century, into a crisis that lasted for a long time.
