It only works if you are quick enough and ready to apply it right after the bite has just happened. If you delay even a minute, the damage is done.
The head that "burns" the application spot on the skin is quite small as shown in the picture, and either in a hurry or in the dark, and in some cases, you will struggle to align it with the bite spot.
What the device is said to do is deactivate the proteins in the mosquito's saliva, but mainly to disrupt the local nervous system by tricking our brain to focus on another pain or discomfort and to cause local vasodilation (I tend to believe it's mainly the second one).
However, for people with hypersensitivity to mosquito bites (like me), it doesn't do much. For people who are less bothered, it might work.
Take it with a grain of salt, or if you find it from someone else, try it first.

I'm coming back after an entire summer and several experiences with mosquitoes. I'm adding a star, because even though it's not a panacea, I was looking for this more to get relief than the 'after-bite' pen. It does something, but not perfectly. Still, it's a solution I don't regret spending money on.
Δουλεύει μόνο εάν είσαι αρκετά γρήγορος και σε ετοιμότητα να το εφαρμόσεις πάνω στο τσίμπημα που έχει μόλις γίνει. Αν καθυστερήσεις ένα λεπτό, η ζημιά έχει γίνει.
Η κεφαλή που "καίει" το σημείο εφαρμογής στο δέρμα είναι αρκετά μικρή όπως φαίνεται στην εικόνα και είτε στην βιασύνη είτε στο σκοτάδι, και σε κάποες περιπτώσεις θα δυσκολευτείτε να πετύχετε ταύτιση με το σημείο τσιμπήματος.
Αυτό που "λένε" οτι κάνει η συσκευή είναι να απενεργοποιεί τις πρωτεϊνες του σάλιου του κουνουπιού, αλλά κυρίως να αποσυντονιζει το τοπικό νευρικό σύστημα ξεγελώντας τον εγκέφαλο μας να εστιάσει σε άλλον πόνο ή ενόχληση και να κάνει τοπική αγγειοδιαστολή (τείνω να πιστεύω ότι είναι κυρίως το 2ο).
Όμως σε άτομα με υπερευαισθησία στα τσιμπήματα κουνουπιών (όπως εγώ) δεν κάνει πολλά πράγματα. Σε άτομα που τους ενοχλεί λιγότερο, μπορεί και να πιάσει.
Πάρτε το με επιφύλαξη, ή αν το βρείτε από άλλον, δοκιμάστε το πρώτα.

Επανέρχομαι μετά απο ένα ολόκληρο καλοκαίρι και αρκετές εμπειρίες με κουνούπια. Προσθέτω ένα αστέρι, γιατί παρόλο που δεν είναι πανάκεια, περισσότερο έψαχνα αυτό για να ανακουφιστώ παρά το στυλό "για μετά το τσίμπημα". Κάτι κάνει, αλλά όχι τέλεια. Παρόλα αυτά είναι μια λύση που δε μετάνιωσα για τα λεφτά που το πήρα.
