Description

Description

The WR1200 by Cudy is a router, a device to which other devices (e.g., computer, mobile phone, TV) connect either wirelessly or via cable, and it distributes internet access to them. For internet access, it needs to be connected to a modem. It is a Wi-Fi 5 generation, the most widespread Wi-Fi standard, which can currently meet the needs of most users. There is now also the next generation Wi-Fi 6, which offers the ability to connect many more devices to accommodate the ever-increasing smart devices in a home. It broadcasts signals on two frequencies, 2.4 & 5GHz. It offers higher speeds compared to single band and connection of more devices. The 2.4GHz frequency is the most widespread and has a long range. The 5GHz provides higher speed than the 2.4GHz but is more sensitive to obstacles (e.g., walls) that reduce its range. This difference, as well as its more limited use, helps it have fewer interferences from other networks.

Wifi that goes further

Designed with external dual-band 4*5dBi antennas, combined with Beamforming signal detection technology, the Wi-Fi signal is concentrated into a beam directly towards the users' device to ensure the best possible experience.

More Speed, Less Interference

The 5 GHz band provides faster speeds, ideal for gaming and 4K streaming. Basic tasks can be handled by the 2.4 GHz band, while high-bandwidth devices can connect to the 5 GHz band for faster performance.

Decent for its price, but that's about it. The antennas have good range and do an excellent job as mesh or as a replacement for the provider's factory modem, which usually doesn't have good coverage.
However, when it comes to VPN, things change. I also have the WR3000S, which loses about 10% on OpenVPN, while this one loses around 80%. With WireGuard the situation improves, but if you mainly want it for such use, it's better to invest in something more powerful.

Very good, better than Cosmote, more stable signal, you can also use VPN, very good operation program in the priority settings, e.g. for gaming and other devices in how much internet they consume. In general, everything is very good and their app, I highly recommend it

This review is about the network version: v2

It's just fine, better than the factory Cosmote one. Stable WiFi signal while the original one often has momentary disconnections. It was purchased to set up a VPN but also to boost the signal in an area not covered by the main router. Even though it's in the countryside, the signal is stable via WiFi and ethernet. Completely satisfied for simple, home use.

Everything perfect with the super easy VPN setup, better speeds than the Nova router on wireless. HUGE plus that you can choose through the mobile app which devices will go through the VPN and which will not (e.g., some Cosmote TV do not work with VPN so you whitelist them). If I could give more stars, I would

Fantastic, clear VFM. It has a very easy menu and settings and supports OpenVPN as well as Wireguard, which connect very easily. It also has a mobile app, with settings etc., however, you can only access the router through the app when you are connected to the same network. Awesome

Very good for its price, easy to install, no interruptions, with plenty of functions. It is 100Mbps but if you don't need more it's OK.

Very good for its price, easy and fast with features that more expensive ones don't have. However, I had to return it because it's not LAN: 1000Mbps as it says here, it's 100Mbps. I will buy the Cudy WR1300 which has 1Gbit LAN. If you don't need 1Gbit LAN, I believe it's an excellent choice.
