Description

Description

An autobiography written with intensity and electricity, emotion and humor. A delightful narrative from the "man with the cap."

Brian Johnson recalls his life and unfolds it in this book through small episodes, in stories that intertwine with each other, just as it would happen if he were in a pub with his friends and, between large glasses of beer and much laughter, he recounted how he went from the regional glam rock band Geordie to becoming the lead singer of the most explosively electric rock band, AC/DC.

In 1980, the unexpected opportunity arises to claim the position of Bon Scott, their singer. The way he describes the first encounter with the group and the crew is delightful, how he was able to gain their trust almost from the very first moment, without even realizing it. His meeting with the two brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, the heart of AC/DC, gave a new cocktail to the band's sound that was immediately established. Johnson's voice is exactly what AC/DC wanted: the sound of electrocution.

The album Back in Black, the first from AC/DC without Scott, who died leaving the band in absolute black – just like its cover – the first with Johnson's voice and participation in the lyrics, saw catastrophic success: It became the best-selling album in rock history.

To the grandchildren of my grandchildren's grandchildren, whom I will never meet. It's nice to think that these words connect us. I wish you a wonderful life, whatever you may be. With love, your great-great-great-grandfather Brian Johnson

Experience is what you have when you don't get what you want. This book talks about what happened when I didn't have what I wanted, but I never stopped believing and I never gave up. And luck played its part, of course – but I truly believe that you can achieve almost anything if your dreams are important enough and you don't just sit around waiting for something to happen. Others will have different memories of the events I describe in these pages. After all, it's been over forty years since we made Back in Black – and half a century since the glorious days of my first band, Geordie. This is simply my version of how everything happened.

Finally, I would like to say a big thank you to Angus, Malcolm, Cliff, and Phil, who rolled the dice and gave me a second chance at a professional music career under some of the most difficult and tragic conditions any band could face. Malcolm, if there's an afterlife, my friend, when I come there, I'll buy you and Bon a beer.
