Description & Specifications

The French composer and conductor, Henri Tomasi (1901-1971), composed the "Little Corsican Goat" in 1952. Like his other woodwind compositions, "Little Corsican Goat" received a positive reception from the public. Tomasi was born in Marseille, but his parents originated from the La Casinca region in Corsica. Despite the pressure he faced for musical studies from his parents, Tomasi dreamed of becoming a sailor and, during the summer, would visit his grandmother in Corsica, where he learned traditional Corsican songs. However, in 1921, he began his studies at the Paris Conservatory and evolved into a recognizable composer and conductor. Tomasi did not forget his Corsican roots, often incorporating themes from the songs he learned during his summer vacations with his grandmother. This is evident in "Little Corsican Goat" for flute and piano or harp accompaniment. This piece by Tomasi is suitable for intermediate flutists, and its popularity has been proven by its inclusion in ABRSM Level 5.
