    The adapter uses the OMTP standard, instead of the common CTIA (meaning a different way in which sound is transmitted through the port). Most devices now use CTIA. If you use an OMTP jack in a CTIA port, your microphone will not work. So, if you want to connect headphones and a microphone to a modern smartphone or laptop, look for a CTIA adapter and DO NOT buy this one.

    It doesn't make it clear if the pink is for the microphone because we use these colors for audio output, green for headphones and speakers, and pink for microphone. In my case, not only did I lose a lot of sound, but the microphone had incredible interference and could barely be heard
