This disease is caused by the infestation of the aquarium by trematode worms called Dactylogyrus. These parasites exploit non-optimal conditions in a freshwater aquarium and mainly attack young fish, while they are almost completely harmless to strong adult specimens. Gyrodactylus, on the other hand, also belongs to the same family of trematodes and attacks the scales of the host.

SYMPTOMS:

• Accelerated breathing
• Regurgitation of food
• Swimming at the surface
• Raised gills
• Increased mucus on the gills
• Itching in the head area
• Rubbing against decoration, substrate, and rocks

CAUSES:

• Feeding contaminated food
• Introduction of new fish that are already infected
• Presence of newly introduced plants in the aquarium

DOSAGE:

Haquoss H17 is a special product for this type of situation and should be used as soon as the first symptoms appear. Remove the activated carbon filter, if present, and aerate the aquarium well. The water will turn yellow/green during the dosage, but this is normal. Shade the aquarium during treatment. Increase the aquarium temperature to 28°-30° and dose 1ml (1 cap = 5ml) every 25lt of water on the 1st and 3rd day.

On the 4th day, make a partial 20% water change adding Haquoss DM1 CONDITIONER and Haquoss DM2 ALIVE, and repeat on days 5 and 7 if the infestation persists. On the 10th day, make a significant partial water change (at least 30%) and resume the use of activated carbon. Restore the temperature to previous values at the end of the treatment. Be cautious of overdosing and do not combine with other medications.
