The thermocouples are very sensitive, requiring a good amplifier with reference cold compensation. The Adafruit MCP9600 performs all these functions and can easily be connected to any microcontroller or single-board computer via I2C. The chip takes care of all the analog functions and supports almost all types of thermocouples: K, J, T, N, S, E, B, and R types are supported! You can also set various alerts for over/under temperature and read the temperature of the thermocouple (hot) and the temperature of the chip (cold).
This breakout board includes the chip, a 3.3V voltage regulator, and level-shifting circuits, all pre-assembled and tested. It works perfectly with 3.3V or 5V logic. It comes with a 2-pin terminal block (for connecting to the thermocouple) and a header (for connecting to any breadboard or perfboard).
- Works with any type of thermocouple K, J, T, N, S, E, B, and R
- K Type Temperature: -200°C to +1372°C
- J Type Temperature: -150°C to +1200°C
- T Type Temperature: -200°C to +400°C
- N Type Temperature: -150°C to +1300°C
- E Type Temperature: -200°C to +1000°C
- S Type Temperature: +250°C to +1664°C
- B Type Temperature: +1000°C to +1800°C
- R Type Temperature: +250°C to +1664°C
Resolution ±0.0625 °C, note that K thermocouples have an accuracy of approximately ±2°C to ±6°C.
