This winter, escape to a warm festive bookstore and give yourself a magical gift!

Carmen has always worked at the local department store. So when the wonderful old building closed its doors forever, she found herself stranded. When her sister, Sophia, suggests through their mother a job at a charming little bookstore in Edinburgh and accommodation in the spare room of her house, Carmen hesitates. She has always been very cautious about accepting help.

However, she doesn't have many alternatives, so she will find herself in the snowy city a month before Christmas. What Sophia didn't tell her about the little bookstore is that it is "dying" financially and that if Carmen doesn't manage to make a difference before Christmas, the owner will be forced to sell it.

Without admitting it to anyone, Sophia is sure that a miracle will be needed to save the store, but perhaps this Christmas Carmen will surprise them...

“So how’s Downstone’s doing?” Carmen understood, even though she hated that tone. “Well… we’ll do better at Christmas,” she replied, and both of them desperately tried to believe it. Carmen hung up the phone without giving a satisfactory answer about Christmas – or rather, without making a definite commitment, since she was fully aware that her mother would do as she pleased and include her anyway. Of course, nothing new would come of it, and on the twenty-fourth she would indeed end up either at Sofia’s new house – she was sure they would give her the worst bed there – or under her old quilt with the picture of the Spice Girls, something that would make her feel worse than ever. She glanced around. Her best friend at the shop, Indra, had just come in and was curiously eyeing the flowery mug that belonged to their supervisor, Mrs. Mars, which was strictly forbidden for anyone else to use.
