Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus guniie) is an evergreen tree that is also found as a densely branched shrub. The flowers of eucalyptus are white and fragrant. The leaves of the new branches are pale green and those of the old branches are gray-green.
It is used to make an infusion with therapeutic properties, such as:
- Antiseptic
- Microbicidal
- Disinfectant
- Expectorant
- Bronchodilatory
Usage: Pour one cup of boiling water over a teaspoon of dried herb, cover for 10 minutes, strain, and drink three times a day. If you are suffering from a cold, add eucalyptus leaves to boiling water. Inhale the steam, keeping your head over the pot (after removing it from the heat) covered with a towel.
Eucalyptus also helps in dealing with gingivitis. Boil some leaves in a cup of water and rinse your mouth after brushing. With the same infusion, you can gargle in case of a sore throat.
Herbs are and should be treated as medicines. It is always recommended to consult your doctor before taking them.
