The Equisetum (Equisetum arvense - Horsetail) is a shrubby plant, endemic throughout the Northern Hemisphere. In modern herbal therapy, Equisetum is considered hemostatic, antiseptic, a tissue tonic, and diuretic.
Due to its high silica content and trace minerals, it is believed to positively affect the following conditions:
- Inflammatory or enlarged prostate
- Cystitis
- Urinary tract stones
Its hemostatic action may be beneficial in the case of stomach ulcers. Generally, Equisetum is considered a particularly important herb for stimulating weakened organisms.
Equisetum can be made into a decoction by boiling it for 10-15 minutes in water (1-2 tablespoons of herb per "cup" of beverage). You can consume up to 3 cups of Equisetum per day (morning, noon, and evening before meals). Equisetum should not be used for long periods, as it may cause irritation.
Herbs are and should be treated as medicines. We recommend that you always consult your doctor before taking them.
