The Plagios dry red wine is produced from the Merlot grape variety, as it expresses itself in the microclimate of Mount Pangaion. It is made using traditional red winemaking techniques with extended maceration and, after malolactic fermentation, aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels.
It has a deep black-red colour and aromas of red fruit, plum and sour cherry, alongside notes of cedar, spices, vanilla, dark chocolate and nutmeg. On the palate, it is rich, with firm tannins, good structure and a long finish. It pairs well with grilled and slow-cooked meats with spicy sauces, as well as rich cheeses. Serve at 16–18 °C. Suitable for ageing for at least 10 years.
