Description

Description

In "The Millionaire," Shaw's ideological stance on the failure of the capitalist system dominates, which drives human relationships towards the abyss as the gap between the poor and the rich widens, increasing the lack of compassion, solidarity, and love.

The dramatic characters are vividly sketched, without psychological fluctuations, but more as symbols, carriers, and representatives of specific social groups. On one side are the representatives of capitalism, led by Epiphany Onisanti di Parega, who have money as their only god in life, having been drained of noble human emotions, and on the other side are the representatives of the working class, who dream of a socialist world, more just and more humane.

Shaw presents complex beings that reflect the complexity of society, not through realism but through exaggeration, parable, and fairy tale.
