Kanavos lavender essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the flowers of the Lavandula angustifolia plant. It is clear, colorless to pale yellow, with a characteristic herbal and floral aroma. Its composition consists mainly of linalyl acetate, linalool, lavandulol, 1,8-cineole, lavandulyl acetate and camphor, as well as terpenoids and phenolic compounds.

It is used in aromatherapy, cosmetics and as an ingredient in insect repellents. For massage, it is mixed with a carrier oil. It can also be added to an aromatherapy diffuser or bathwater. To scent and clean a room, add 1–2 drops to a damp cloth or 10–20 drops to 1 liter of water. Store in a tightly closed container, protected from light and away from heat sources.
