Set of ARAMITH Tournament BLACK billiard balls with Duramith technology.
Aramith created the new Tournament BLACK set to combine the best quality balls with an innovative, modern, and groundbreaking "black" design.
The purpose of creating this set is to enhance the visibility of the balls on television and on small screens. Aramith collaborated with Matchroom Multisport to develop new colors.
The Aramith Tournament set is also available in TV colors and regular:
- 1 and 9 ball: yellow
- 2 and 10 ball: dark blue
- 3 and 11 ball: red
- 4 and 12 ball: dark purple
- 5 and 13 ball: orange
- 6 and 14 ball: dark green
- 7 and 15 ball: maroon
- 8 ball: black
The color coding aims to provide the best contrast between the balls. However, reality in television broadcasting has shown that dark tones can be hard to distinguish in poor lighting conditions.
To improve the contrast, the Super Aramith Pro TV set was created with pink and light brown colors instead of dark purple and maroon, which significantly improved the contrast and is successfully used in all top tournaments worldwide. The regular Super Aramith Pro and Aramith Tournament series maintain the traditional colors.
In 2018, Matchroom Sport, which leads the promotion of special and significant billiard events, expressed the need for enhancing the contrast between the balls, particularly for the orange color in relation to red and pink, as well as dark green in relation to dark blue.
Thus, a light purple was developed to replace orange and a lighter green to replace dark green, which is used exclusively in the new Aramith Tournament BLACK set. The pink 4-ball has become a reference in official tournaments with the Aramith Tournament TV set.
The black design on the stripes of the balls was originally designed for nine-ball play, to better distinguish the 9-ball from the 1-ball. It appears on all striped balls providing an innovative and groundbreaking appearance.
