They’re Vans, so you already know where they’ll fall apart when they eventually do. However, I always buy this skate version, which has very good removable insoles. I’ve never bought the regular ones, nor do I want to. They’re among my favorite shoes for walking and standing, often even more than my athletic shoes. The only downside I find is that to get them on and off, you need not to be late for your appointment and to have a chair, a shoehorn, and patience available. For that reason, though, they fit the foot well.

It took me a little reading to understand that now the ones with the label on the side are the pro ones and they’re called skate. As soon as you put them on, you earn 2 blisters on the heel, so use medium Compeed BEFORE putting them on, otherwise you’ll suffer; in 5-6 days the material inside the heel, which is red and does the damage, softens. If you have wide feet, you need to remove the insoles and put in smaller ones, and the shoe becomes very comfortable, at least in width; otherwise, get them half a size bigger than the regular Vans, where the insoles don’t come out. As for materials, it seems sturdy and aesthetically it’s very nice; as for skating, we have 40 years to catch up on, so we’ll stick with these...

Compared to the classic Old Skool that I have been using for a decade, these are the only ones that are still relatively stiff after a year (the others always softened after a few weeks). Also, they haven't opened up at the spot where my old ones always did, at the big toe. They have much superior build quality, although I kind of liked that they used to soften. Also, their sole is much superior. In general, I recommend them if you want to go for Old Skool, these are awesome

Positives
-Renewed sole, much more comfortable for walking than the classic old skool
-Reinforced rubber around the shoe, gives the impression that it will last longer and generally looks sturdier than the classics

Negatives
-They could have higher quality laces

Overall, they are definitely worth the extra money.

Very beautiful shoe. I would like a slightly better construction because they opened relatively quickly in everyday use.

They can only be worn with a spoon and after replacing their own sole (which admittedly looks much higher quality but is too thick) with a simple one.
After wearing them several times, they still hurt my heels even though I wear socks.

Wonderful shoes for a perfect style! For comfort, don't expect anything crazy, but they have definitely improved compared to previous models. I simply love them!
