    This review is about the cooling power: 12000 BTU

    The guy who wrote it:

    made measurements in a very small space (13 sq. m.),

    with outdoor temperature 2–8°C,

    with high humidity,

    and with a 9k model, not a 12k.

    In such conditions, ALL mid-range inverters:

    increase consumption,

    do frequent defrosts,

    and in a small space they quickly reach the temperature → drop → rise again.

    That is not on/off.
    It is an inverter with a high minimum load.

    The Leon 9k has a minimum of ~270W in heating.
    The Fujitsu has ~100W.
    So the Fujitsu can “crawl” low, Leon cannot.
    That does not make it on/off — it makes it a mid-range inverter.

    2) SCOP does not mean you will see 120W in heating
    SCOP is a laboratory average across 4 different loads.
    It does not mean the unit will EVER drop to 120W in your home.

    No mid-range inverter drops that low in heating.
    Neither Midea, nor Toyotomi, nor Haier.

    Only premium (Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu) go down to 80–120W.

    Leon is mid-range.
    So the 270–300W minimum is absolutely normal.

    3) Defrost every 45 minutes at 2–3°C
    Savva, this is normal for ALL air conditioners when:

    there is humidity,

    there is low outdoor temperature,

    and the unit is working in a small space.

    “Can handle down to -25°C” means it will work, not that it will work without defrost.

    Both Daikin and Fujitsu do defrost every 40–60 minutes in such conditions.

    4) The comparison with Fujitsu is unfair
    The Fujitsu:

    has a premium inverter,

    has a very low minimum load,

    has better COP,

    and costs +€300 more than Leon.

    The Leon:

    is mid-range,

    has a higher minimum,

    so it cycles more often.

    It is not “bad”.
    It is a different product category.

    5) Why you will not see these problems
    You have:

    12k, not 9k

    an insulated house

    double-glazed aluminum windows

    90 sq. m., not 13 sq. m.

    operation at 27°C in cooling, not heating in a small room

    mild summer conditions, not 2°C and 90% humidity

    So:

    it will not do on/off

    it will not do defrost

    it will not have 65% humidity

    it will not have sudden fluctuations

    it will not be noisy

    it will work steadily at 150–220W in cooling

    The review concerns heating in a small room.

    No relation.

    6) The Leon LHUVI12 is an honest unit
    It is not Daikin.
    It is not Fujitsu.
    It is not premium.

    But:

    it is stable,

    it is reliable,

    it is economical,

    it has good build quality,

    and for the money it is very honest.

    The product's features do not correspond to reality. In heating mode, when it reaches the desired temperature, it shuts off completely and the compressor doesn't lower its speed, as modern inverter air conditioners do. The power consumption usually drops to about 300 watts and then the compressor stops entirely, just like the old on-off air conditioners. If we consider that the machine has a SCOP in heating around 5.6 for the average zone, as stated on the energy label, then with a consumption of 300 watts and assuming the average COP is 5.6, we get a performance of 300X5.6=1680 watts or about 6000 BTU. So you buy a 9,000 BTU unit to operate like an old 6,000 BTU on-off unit. I should point out here that according to the specifications, the power consumption in heating should drop to 120 watts. You will never see this, so don't expect the corresponding savings that this particular Chinese machine promises. For more information, you can also refer to the Insomnia forum for air conditioners. This particular machine has the same specifications as the Midea all easy pro, so you can look up that model as well. You will find a lot there, which I unfortunately ignored.
    Also, with an outside temperature of 2-3 degrees, it did a defrost every 45 minutes. Supposedly it can withstand up to -25 degrees. Ridiculous.

    I should also mention that the installation was done according to specifications with 3 meters of copper pipe, vacuum pump, and the like.

    Bulky and unattractive unit, but I thought it was a very efficient machine, so I didn't consider the appearance. Nor the cost, which is comparable to a Toshiba, Daikin, or Fujitsu. All wrong. The service from Inventor is good, but what good is it when the specifications they mention are never achieved. Will they replace it with another identical one? For example, I recently had written communication with them about the specifications of another air conditioner that behaved exactly like an on/off unit and which I eventually removed. Their responses were initially only by phone and were full of inaccuracies. Eventually, after pressure, they replied in writing, of course without referring to what they told me by phone. They simply informed me that the operation of the air conditioner is completely normal and that this model has received Eurovent certification. And all is well for them. But not for someone who is misled by the 10-year warranty and the impressive energy label, not suspecting they will encounter such phenomena.

    Here I will show how the Leon 9,000 BTU behaves in heating and how a Fujitsu 9,000 BTU of the same price category does, with a detailed consumption graph (1st image). Outside temperature 8 degrees, requested 22 degrees in 13-square-meter rooms with similar losses, calculated by an engineer. Both air conditioners had similar air supply. The Inventor usually drops to 270 watts and then stops. When it starts, it almost always does a small defrost (arrows). Its operation is not smooth at all and it constantly does on/off, while the other air conditioner drops in heating to 107 (!) watts and maintains stable compressor operation, as it should, since it is a true inverter. Also, see the colossal difference in consumption.
    Additionally, I took the trouble to measure the COP with precision thermometers at the air inlet and outlet on both units. So, based on the difference between the inlet and outlet temperature, the power consumption in watts, and the air supply in m3/h (as derived from the manuals), I calculated the COP for the Leon at 4.7 and for the Fujitsu at 6.4, which means that the Leon is 36% more energy-consuming when operating. However, if we also take into account the energy consumed for defrosting—which is not a heating function but essentially a cooling one—then the difference increases even more (it goes up to 50%). And all this under real conditions, because our homes are not laboratories from which the respective energy efficiency values are derived.

    I will return to the cooling function when the weather gets warmer. For now, one star mainly for the misleading energy label and the on/off operation.

    In cooling, things are clearly better in terms of consumption. I saw it go down to 60 watts in cooling mode (2nd image), but under very favorable external conditions, where it would have been better to just open a window to cool off (indoor 26, set to 24, outdoor temperature 18 degrees). At such low wattage, however, there is a significant problem: the air is not cooled enough to even minimally dehumidify, and the room's humidity instead of dropping, increases due to the fact that moisture is constantly being added to the space from the human body (sweating, breathing) and activities (cooking, washing, etc.). Thus, we have an indoor space with humidity above 60%, which is unhealthy. Note that all super-efficient (in cooling) air conditioners have this problem when they lower consumption so much. At least you have the option to switch it to dehumidification, where the unit then operates steadily at around 300 watts, but as a result, it cools the space a lot. Unfortunately, this particular model does not achieve a sufficient balance between cooling and dehumidification, so you end up at night, when you sleep and the outside temperature is around 27 degrees, having, for example, 24-25 inside and humidity above 60%, which is unhealthy and does not allow for good sleep. Either you have to increase the set temperature, since at higher temperatures relative humidity decreases, or you have to get a dehumidifier, which costs quite a bit, consumes about 245 watts, and also produces hot air. The only mitigating factor is that most air conditioners struggle with cooling at night when you sleep.
    Regarding noise, the outdoor unit is somewhat audible at night, especially in heating, while the indoor unit is almost silent in silent mode. There are no annoying creaks.

    A very serious problem I found with this unit is that it cannot maintain a stable room temperature. For example, the bedroom was at 26 degrees and I wanted it to drop to 25. Setting the air conditioner to 25 degrees, the temperature suddenly dropped to 23 and then rose to 25 after 2 hours (chart 3). If you also consider the large increase in humidity I mentioned earlier, one concludes that very poor sleeping conditions are created. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it for cooling either, even though it is economical.

    In conclusion, I do not recommend it for either heating or cooling. In heating, it operates like an old on/off technology unit, and in cooling, it fluctuates the temperature by +/- 2 degrees while raising humidity above 65%. It is recommended to use it only for rapid cooling of a space that will be left again soon and not for maintaining a constant temperature.

    A very serious problem I found with this unit is that it cannot maintain a stable room temperature. For example, the bedroom was at 26 degrees and I wanted it to drop to 25. Setting the air conditioner to 25 degrees, the temperature suddenly dropped to 23 and then rose to 25 after 2 hours (chart 3). If you also consider the large increase in humidity I mentioned earlier, one concludes that very poor sleeping conditions are created. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it for cooling either, even though it is economical.

    In conclusion, I do not recommend it for either heating or cooling. In heating, it operates like an old on/off technology unit, and in cooling, it fluctuates the temperature by +/- 2 degrees while raising humidity above 65%. It is recommended to use it only for rapid cooling of a space that will be left again soon and not for maintaining a constant temperature.

    The guy who wrote it:

    made measurements in a very small space (13 sq. m.),

    with outdoor temperature 2–8°C,

    with high humidity,

    and with a 9k model, not a 12k.

    In such conditions, ALL mid-range inverters:

    increase consumption,

    do frequent defrosts,

    and in a small space they quickly reach the temperature → drop → rise again.

    That is not on/off.
    It is an inverter with a high minimum load.

    The Leon 9k has a minimum of ~270W in heating.
    The Fujitsu has ~100W.
    So the Fujitsu can “crawl” low, Leon cannot.
    That does not make it on/off — it makes it a mid-range inverter.

    2) SCOP does not mean you will see 120W in heating
    SCOP is a laboratory average across 4 different loads.
    It does not mean the unit will EVER drop to 120W in your home.

    No mid-range inverter drops that low in heating.
    Neither Midea, nor Toyotomi, nor Haier.

    Only premium (Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu) go down to 80–120W.

    Leon is mid-range.
    So the 270–300W minimum is absolutely normal.

    3) Defrost every 45 minutes at 2–3°C
    Savva, this is normal for ALL air conditioners when:

    there is humidity,

    there is low outdoor temperature,

    and the unit is working in a small space.

    “Can handle down to -25°C” means it will work, not that it will work without defrost.

    Both Daikin and Fujitsu do defrost every 40–60 minutes in such conditions.

    4) The comparison with Fujitsu is unfair
    The Fujitsu:

    has a premium inverter,

    has a very low minimum load,

    has better COP,

    and costs +€300 more than Leon.

    The Leon:

    is mid-range,

    has a higher minimum,

    so it cycles more often.

    It is not “bad”.
    It is a different product category.

    5) Why you will not see these problems
    You have:

    12k, not 9k

    an insulated house

    double-glazed aluminum windows

    90 sq. m., not 13 sq. m.

    operation at 27°C in cooling, not heating in a small room

    mild summer conditions, not 2°C and 90% humidity

    So:

    it will not do on/off

    it will not do defrost

    it will not have 65% humidity

    it will not have sudden fluctuations

    it will not be noisy

    it will work steadily at 150–220W in cooling

    The review concerns heating in a small room.

    6) The Leon LHUVI12 is an honest unit
    It is not Daikin.
    It is not Fujitsu.

    The product's features do not correspond to reality. In heating mode, when it reaches the desired temperature, it shuts off completely and the compressor doesn't lower its speed, as modern inverter air conditioners do. The power consumption usually drops to about 300 watts and then the compressor stops entirely, just like the old on-off air conditioners. If we consider that the machine has a SCOP in heating around 5.6 for the average zone, as stated on the energy label, then with a consumption of 300 watts and assuming the average COP is 5.6, we get a performance of 300X5.6=1680 watts or about 6000 BTU. So you buy a 9,000 BTU unit to operate like an old 6,000 BTU on-off unit. I should point out here that according to the specifications, the power consumption in heating should drop to 120 watts. You will never see this, so don't expect the corresponding savings that this particular Chinese machine promises. For more information, you can also refer to the Insomnia forum for air conditioners. This particular machine has the same specifications as the Midea all easy pro, so you can look up that model as well. You will find a lot there, which I unfortunately ignored.
    Also, with an outside temperature of 2-3 degrees, it did a defrost every 45 minutes. Supposedly it can withstand up to -25 degrees. Ridiculous.

    I should also mention that the installation was done according to specifications with 3 meters of copper pipe, vacuum pump, and the like.

    Bulky and unattractive unit, but I thought it was a very efficient machine, so I didn't consider the appearance. Nor the cost, which is comparable to a Toshiba, Daikin, or Fujitsu. All wrong. The service from Inventor is good, but what good is it when the specifications they mention are never achieved. Will they replace it with another identical one? For example, I recently had written communication with them about the specifications of another air conditioner that behaved exactly like an on/off unit and which I eventually removed. Their responses were initially only by phone and were full of inaccuracies. Eventually, after pressure, they replied in writing, of course without referring to what they told me by phone. They simply informed me that the operation of the air conditioner is completely normal and that this model has received Eurovent certification. And all is well for them. But not for someone who is misled by the 10-year warranty and the impressive energy label, not suspecting they will encounter such phenomena.

    Here I will show how the Leon 9,000 BTU behaves in heating and how a Fujitsu 9,000 BTU of the same price category does, with a detailed consumption graph (1st image). Outside temperature 8 degrees, requested 22 degrees in 13-square-meter rooms with similar losses, calculated by an engineer. Both air conditioners had similar air supply. The Inventor usually drops to 270 watts and then stops. When it starts, it almost always does a small defrost (arrows). Its operation is not smooth at all and it constantly does on/off, while the other air conditioner drops in heating to 107 (!) watts and maintains stable compressor operation, as it should, since it is a true inverter. Also, see the colossal difference in consumption.
    Additionally, I took the trouble to measure the COP with precision thermometers at the air inlet and outlet on both units. So, based on the difference between the inlet and outlet temperature, the power consumption in watts, and the air supply in m3/h (as derived from the manuals), I calculated the COP for the Leon at 4.7 and for the Fujitsu at 6.4, which means that the Leon is 36% more energy-consuming when operating. However, if we also take into account the energy consumed for defrosting—which is not a heating function but essentially a cooling one—then the difference increases even more (it goes up to 50%). And all this under real conditions, because our homes are not laboratories from which the respective energy efficiency values are derived.

    I will return to the cooling function when the weather gets warmer. For now, one star mainly for the misleading energy label and the on/off operation.

    In cooling, things are clearly better in terms of consumption. I saw it go down to 60 watts in cooling mode (2nd image), but under very favorable external conditions, where it would have been better to just open a window to cool off (indoor 26, set to 24, outdoor temperature 18 degrees). At such low wattage, however, there is a significant problem: the air is not cooled enough to even minimally dehumidify, and the room's humidity instead of dropping, increases due to the fact that moisture is constantly being added to the space from the human body (sweating, breathing) and activities (cooking, washing, etc.). Thus, we have an indoor space with humidity above 60%, which is unhealthy. Note that all super-efficient (in cooling) air conditioners have this problem when they lower consumption so much. At least you have the option to switch it to dehumidification, where the unit then operates steadily at around 300 watts, but as a result, it cools the space a lot. Unfortunately, this particular model does not achieve a sufficient balance between cooling and dehumidification, so you end up at night, when you sleep and the outside temperature is around 27 degrees, having, for example, 24-25 inside and humidity above 60%, which is unhealthy and does not allow for good sleep. Either you have to increase the set temperature, since at higher temperatures relative humidity decreases, or you have to get a dehumidifier, which costs quite a bit, consumes about 245 watts, and also produces hot air. The only mitigating factor is that most air conditioners struggle with cooling at night when you sleep.
    Regarding noise, the outdoor unit is somewhat audible at night, especially in heating, while the indoor unit is almost silent in silent mode. There are no annoying creaks.

Setting the air conditioner to 25 degrees, the temperature suddenly dropped to 23 and then rose to 25 after 2 hours (chart 3). If you also consider the large increase in humidity I mentioned earlier, one concludes that very poor sleeping conditions are created. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it for cooling either, even though it is economical.

    In conclusion, I do not recommend it for either heating or cooling. In heating, it operates like an old on/off technology unit, and in cooling, it fluctuates the temperature by +/- 2 degrees while raising humidity above 65%. It is recommended to use it only for rapid cooling of a space that will be left again soon and not for maintaining a constant temperature.
