Description

Description

Vauxhall cars have played a central role in motoring in Britain for over a century. The company built an impressive reputation in its early years with remarkable models such as the Prince Henry, the 30/98, and the 1914 Grand Prix cars, then moved into a more mainstream area of the market, remaining at the forefront of innovation during the 1930s.

The years after 1945 saw the company as one of the top in Britain, meeting family needs with cars like the Velox, Cresta, and Victor, and then manufacturing the highly successful Viva range of smaller models. In close collaboration with its German counterpart, Opel, Vauxhall increasingly relied on Opel's designs from the mid-1970s onwards. The Astra, Cavalier, Nova, and Carlton were some of the most loved cars of their time, and no one can forget the striking Lotus Carlton with its 176mph.

This illustrated introduction explores the history of Vauxhall cars from its inception in 1903 to the city cars and SUVs that have driven Vauxhall's product lines as the company continues to excel in the 21st century.
