The piano compositions hold a special place in the work of Siganouski and are a showcase of his style, as well as an undeniable contribution to the development of 20th-century piano music. The piano played an important role in his life. He always composed on it and appeared as a performer of his own works and an accompanist in performances of his own songs and works for violin and piano.
This collection contains preludes, the "Prelude and Fugue," études, mazurkas, four Polish dances, the "Romantic Waltz," "Fascias," and "Masks." The works or excerpts from specific cycles present an overall picture of Karol Siganouski's piano production, with the exception of larger forms such as sonatas, fantasies, or variations.
His early compositions (preludes), filled with youthful sentimentality, remain under the influence of Chopin, Brahms, or Scriabin, but do not lack the originality and individuality that characterize Siganouski's style.
