I am a lover of cognac and rum and have tried countless aged varieties of both with many orders from abroad. There are two versions; the old one was aged for 30 years while the new one is a solera type aged 30 years. Nevertheless, the new one is a bit "better-pleasant." Although sweeter, the fruits (apricot predominates), the sweetness, the spices, and the barrel are all in a flawless velvety balance and with a surprisingly more intense aroma! While the old one, although more "gifted," one might say due to its greater age, loses a bit in the element of "unexpected surprise" compared to the new version because as a drink it is excellent and worth every penny. The old one leaves a slight bitterness at the end and lacks the element of apricot and velvety texture. Also, in the old one, from bottle to bottle, there are small differences; some were a bit better (probably due to the more difficult bottling). So they may have slightly reduced the quality in the new version, but they improved the techniques.
Είμαι λάτρης κονιάκ και ρούμι και έχω δοκιμάσει αμέτριτα παλαιωμένα και από τα δύο είδει με πολλες παραγγελίες από εξωτερικό. Υπάρχουν δύο εκδόσεις η παλιά ήταν 30 χρόνια παλαιωμένη ενώ η καινούρια είναι τύπου solera 30 ετών, παρ όλα αυτά η καινούρια είναι λίγο "καλύτερη-ευχάριστη". Αν και πιο γλυκιά όμως τα φρούτα (υπερτερεί βερίκοκο), η γλυκίτητα, τα μπαχάρια και το βαρέλι είναι όλα σε μια άψογη βελούδινη ισορροπία και με πιο έντονο άρωμα παραδόξως! Ενώ η παλιά αν και πιο "προικισμένη" θα έλεγε κανείς λόγο περισσότερης παλαιώτητας χάνει λιγάκι στο στοιχείο της "απρόσμενης έκπληξης" σε σύγκριση πάντα με την νέα έκδοση διότι σαν ποτό είναι εξαιρετικό και αξίζει κάθε δεκάρα. Η παλιά αφήνει στο τέλος ελαφριά πικράδα και δεν έχει το στοιχείο του βερίκοκου και της βελούδινης υφής. Επίσης στην παλιά από μπουκάλι σε μπουκάλι υπάρχουν μικρές διαφορές κάποια ήταν λίγο καλύτερα (μάλλον λόγο της πιο δύσκολης εμφιάλωσης). Άρα μπορεί να έρειξαν λιγάκι την ποιότητα στην καινούρια έκδοση όμως βελτίωσαν τις τεχνικές.
It's fantastic, I didn't know it existed. It has an amazing nose and taste. You just have to enjoy it after 5 to 10 minutes once it's poured into the glass. At first, it's aggressive, you have to wait for it. Then, it becomes an explosion of aromas and flavors. I enjoy it straight. I highly recommend it. I bought a second one as well.

I had tried this specific Metaxa before at a bar where I used to work. It became a habit to empty it and it was the reason I was stopped. Simply put, this particular drink at this price is a miracle. However, because we cannot describe the intense emotions and incredible taste it leaves you with, I urge you to get it at your cellar, for someone you love, but you must try it.

Έγινε συνήθεια να αδειάζει κ ήταν αιτία να με σταματήσουν. πολύ απλά το συγκεκριμένο ποτό σε αυτή την τιμή είναι ένα θαύμα. Επειδή όμως δεν μπορούμε να περιγράψουμε τα έντονα συναισθήματα κ την απίστευτη γεύση που σ' αφήνει σας παροτρύνω να το πάρετε στην κάβα σας ,σε κάποιον αγαπημένο σας, πάντως πρέπει να το δοκιμάστε.

Reading the reviews here, many compare it to Hennessy but they have no relation... By far more quality, the Metaxa and you expect this to justify the price difference... Smooth and at the same time intense flavor, wonderful aroma and fills the mouth amazingly... I was never a big fan of cognac but this one is really something else... Exceptional value for money even if it seems expensive at first glance... When you taste it, you understand that it not only deserves its money but it exceeds it!

Finally, it comes to you cheaper than a brand of €15 (e.g. a 5-star Silk) because with the latter, you have to drink 1-2 glasses, while with Reserve Private, a few sips are enough to achieve a flavorful result that fills you up and leaves you with a half-hour aftertaste!

I love cognac, and this particular brand. It is one notch tastier than Hennessy VSOP and two notches sweeter. I consider it superior to Hennessy, last year I bought three bottles.

I had tried this specific Metaxa before at a bar where I used to work. It became a habit to empty it and it was the reason I was stopped. Simply put, this particular drink at this price is a miracle. However, because we cannot describe the intense emotions and incredible taste it leaves you with, I urge you to get it at your cellar, for someone you love, but you must try it.

Έγινε συνήθεια να αδειάζει κ ήταν αιτία να με σταματήσουν. πολύ απλά το συγκεκριμένο ποτό σε αυτή την τιμή είναι ένα θαύμα. Επειδή όμως δεν μπορούμε να περιγράψουμε τα έντονα συναισθήματα κ την απίστευτη γεύση που σ' αφήνει σας παροτρύνω να το πάρετε στην κάβα σας ,σε κάποιον αγαπημένο σας, πάντως πρέπει να το δοκιμάστε.

Dreamy experience. It leaves you with a smoky taste at the end. It's worth its money. A necessary piece in every cognac lover's cellar. Foreign ones pale in comparison. A big bravo to Metaxa.

Reading the reviews here, many compare it to Hennessy but they have no relation... By far more quality, the Metaxa and you expect this to justify the price difference... Smooth and at the same time intense flavor, wonderful aroma and fills the mouth amazingly... I was never a big fan of cognac but this one is really something else... Exceptional value for money even if it seems expensive at first glance... When you taste it, you understand that it not only deserves its money but it exceeds it!

Μακράν πιο ποιοτικό το Μεταξά και το περιμένεις κιόλας αυτό να δικαιολογήσει την διαφορά στην τιμή... Απαλή και ταυτόχρονα έντονη γεύση, υπέροχο άρωμα και γεμίζει απίθανα το στόμα... Finally, it comes to you cheaper than a brand of €15 (e.g. a 5-star Silk) because with the latter, you have to drink 1-2 glasses, while with Reserve Private, a few sips are enough to achieve a flavorful result that fills you up and leaves you with a half-hour aftertaste!

I love cognac, and this particular brand. It is one notch tastier than Hennessy VSOP and two notches sweeter. I consider it superior to Hennessy, last year I bought three bottles.

The best for my taste. It has a noticeable difference from the other Metaxa and may even appeal to those who are not fans of these drinks. It has a smoother aroma and doesn't 'burn' as much as, for example, the 12-year-old.

It is an awesome cognac with a full-bodied taste, somewhat "heavy" compared to French options. It is worth pairing it with organic dark chocolate, an unbeatable combination... ^__^
