It is a closed cylindrical expansion tank of 1.9 liters suitable for connection to the closed circuit of the solar water heater. At the bottom, it has threading for connection to the solar water heater's tank, and at the top, it has a position for installing a safety valve.

Modern passive solar thermal systems develop high temperatures causing the expansion and vaporization of their fluids. This results in an increase of pressure in both circuits of the device, causing strain on the entire system.

Additionally, the network pressure along with the dynamic energy of the water cause hydraulic shocks to the device, which may result in temporary or even permanent damage.
