The BRX, Aon 2, and Aon 3 speakers are high-performance, extremely compact speakers initially developed for use as nearfield monitors in professional mixing applications. The design objective was to produce a medium-sized bookshelf or stand-mounted speaker that achieves accurate high-resolution sound reproduction with stunning three-dimensional imaging, comparable to that of GoldenEar's award-winning Triton series.
The new BRX has been extensively developed, incorporating technology derived from the Triton Reference to achieve high performance. Although it does not possess the impressive bass of the floor-standing Triton, significant attention has been given, and extensive technology has been integrated to ensure that the BRX and Aon can deliver a fully satisfying listening experience without the need for a separate subwoofer.
Both the BRX and Aon models include midrange drivers designed by GoldenEar, with technology that originated from the midrange drivers developed for the Triton series. The BRX driver is almost exactly the same as the 15.24 cm driver used in the Triton Reference. Additionally, all use excellent and precise high-frequency drivers (HVFR ™). The BRX utilizes the same tweeter developed for the Triton Reference.
Each BRX and Aon model employs two laterally designed bass radiators to properly load the mid-bass drivers for open sound while also contributing to exceedingly extended bass for such small enclosures.
The BRX model (Bookshelf Reference X) features a 15.24 cm mid-bass driver, nearly identical to that of the Triton Reference. The tweeter is a Reference High-Gauss High-Velocity Folded Ribbon type. The two drivers (mid/bass and high) are perfectly combined with a unique "balanced crossover." A pair of 16.51 cm frequency radiators is positioned on each side of the cabinet for tight, fast, and powerful bass response. The speaker enclosure is luxuriously finished in high-gloss black piano.
