COMMON ALMOND /Amygdalus Communis/
Perennial bush or tree reaching up to 10 meters tall that produces seeds repeatedly throughout its life. It belongs to the rose family and originates from Central Asia. It is primarily cultivated around the Mediterranean Sea: Italy, Spain, Turkey, France, and in California, USA. The fruit is an elongated, flattened drupe with a brittle shell. After drying, the fruit is called almond, which is sold as a dried fruit.
