Instructions for going up stairs:

• Hold onto the handrail of the stairs.
• With the opposite hand, carry the cane.
• Start with your stronger leg. Take the first step.
• Continue, taking the next step with your weaker leg carefully and slowly.
• Caution: do not rush and do not step up two steps at the same time.
• If the stairs have no handrail, perform the previous procedure carefully but at a slower pace.

Instructions for going down stairs:

• First, make sure the surface is not slippery.
• Ensure that there are no obstacles in front of you.
• Hold onto the handrail (if there isn't one, make sure you are steady enough).
• Lower the cane along with your weaker leg and take a slow first step.
• Then lower the other leg and proceed to the same step.
• Caution: do not rush and do not step down two steps at the same time.
