Description

ANEL hard propolis collection screen with feeding holes (brown) LANGSTROTH/DADANT 10

The new propolis collection screen from ANEL features holes that you can open and place solid food (sugar dough, vanilla, etc.) on top. This way, the bees collect propolis. The walls of the holes also keep the center of the screen elevated so that it doesn’t sag under the weight in the middle. As a result, the bees fill the entire screen evenly.

The propolis collection screens are placed on the top layer and under the lid. There should be a gap above the propolis collection screen to create an airflow, which the bees try to block by sealing the screen with propolis. To maintain the distance, you can use the two built-in spacers on the side of the screen that fold.

The screen can be filled with 60g to 80g of propolis within 10-15 days. Usually, their application is in spring and autumn. A good year can yield 400g of propolis per hive. All these figures are indicative and depend on the colony, the bee breed, the local flora, and the season.

Propolis is extracted from the screens after placing them in the freezer for five minutes. Then, you can shake or scrape the propolis off with a stick or by hand.
