The purpose of the underlayment is to provide stability and improve the functionality of multilayer floors. Unlike solid wood floors, multilayer floors are very thin and applied floating, without being glued or nailed.

The underlayment is necessarily applied underneath the multilayer floor and offers additional properties such as:

• Sound absorption
• Thermal insulation
• Moisture protection

Without underlayment, the space will have an echo and the floor will not be stable enough. Noises will be transmitted more easily both within the space and to the floors below. The characteristics of the underlayment remain stable over time and do not support the growth of fungi and bacteria. Additionally, it does not irritate the respiratory system.

The main purpose of the underlayment is to provide a smooth, flat surface, reducing the imperfections of the subfloor. To summarize, the simplest underlayment offers:
