Homework starts from the very first day of school, and it is important to organize time, space, and certain routines that will help the child (and us) finish quickly. At the same time, we need to change the way we ourselves view studying at home. It is certainly not an enjoyable activity, nor is it an opportunity to spend more time with our child. It is the time when we help them learn how to study, so that they can do it on their own later. It is reminiscent of the time when we held their little hands to help them learn to walk. We stayed steadily by their side until they completed the distance they seemed to want to cover. We did not leave them halfway to do something else, we did not discourage them when they fell, we did not get disappointed when they lost their balance. We stood by their side with all our love and attention, knowing how much they needed us and that one day they would manage on their own. And indeed, one day they felt strong and confident enough to do it by themselves.

When I started first grade, I used to study at first with my mom’s help at the kitchen table. Gradually, I began doing my homework on my own... But I still wanted her to keep me company... So she would read her book, silently, in a chair across from me...
That’s how I imagine I’ll study with my twin children too... But reality is usually quite different from imagination. Things surely won’t be so dreamy.
And I won’t hide from you that I feel anxious, not to say scared... Will I manage? Will I be there for them in the right way? Do I have the necessary knowledge to teach them so many new things?
Fortunately, I discovered this very useful book that truly made me feel calm, strong, and confident!
An excellent guide for the daily study of first graders. Suitable for anxious parents like me, who want to do the best for their children at the beginning of their school life.
The truth is that first grade is a difficult class. New school, new environment, many new classmates, new teacher, strict boundaries and rules. And then, daily study at home... All this is a lot for a six-year-old child, who is used to playing carefree...
But it’s also a lot for parents, who, after their work, have to change their schedule.
In its pages, I found practical advice for organizing the desk and the study area. Also, useful suggestions for the proper purchase of school supplies.
Did you know it’s better to have a stable chair at your child’s desk and not one with wheels? They’ll just play with it all the time and annoy you... A very simple but extremely useful tip!
For me, though, the most important are the tips for organizing time, both mine and the children’s, so that their study is finished quickly and correctly.
The tips for convincing our children to start and successfully complete their study are also excellent.
The book has separate chapters for reading, writing, spelling, copying, and the first mathematical concepts. All these are completely new to young students and therefore difficult...
I’ve already read it once, highlighting the most important points for me... I’ll read it again in the summer, just before school starts...
Now, as a mom, I feel ready to face the challenge of first grade with peace of mind, strength, and confidence!
