Description & Specifications

Three volumes, a deluxe hardcover edition of "The Lord of the Rings," illustrated by the distinguished artist Tolkien, Alan Lee. It contains exclusively new works and hundreds of drawings appearing for the first time, along with three removable art cards and two fold-out maps.

Since its first edition, "The Lord of the Rings" has been a work that is appreciated. Rich in magic and supernatural, this epic fantasy has touched the hearts of young and old. Almost 100 million copies have been sold worldwide. No edition has proved more popular than the Central edition, illustrated by the award-winning artist Alan Lee.

Now, for the first time since its publication in 1992, this illustrated edition has been revised and expanded, with many new illustrations and more than 50 drawings added by the artist.

Readers will have the opportunity to follow the complete story of the Hobbits and their role in the quest for the Ring – starting from Bilbo's long-awaited party and culminating in the dramatic clash between Frodo and Gollum at the top of Mount Doom – while enjoying more than fifty colored illustrations that accompany this epic story.

This new hardcover edition includes new cover designs by the artist. The three volumes have additionally been upgraded for the first time with painted edges and are housed in a specially designed, illustrated gold aluminum slipcase with designs created exclusively by Alan Lee. They are accompanied by three removable art cards and two fold-out maps of Middle-Earth, designed by Christopher Tolkien.
